desk demo

desk demo opens desk on a made-up world: three organizations, a board of cards, Claude sessions that play a script, and fake tickets, CI, alerts and servers. You need no accounts, no tokens and no SSH. It’s also what the screenshots in these docs are taken from.

The demo board: seven cards of Acme, Globex and Initech across Backlog, To do, In progress and Blocked

  • Acme has a GitHub account and a Jira project ABC. Its Tickets view lists three made-up issues assigned to you (ABC-123, ABC-131, ABC-140), and its cards’ pull requests have CI: one passing, one failing on e2e (checkout).
  • Globex has a GitHub account, a Nagios called prod, and servers. Its Alerts view shows web-02 critical (HTTP 502) and db-01 in warning (disk /var). Its Servers view opens the infra workspace with four hosts (web-01, web-02, db-01, db-02) and an infra Claude that finds and fixes the full disk behind the 502, asking you before each change.
  • Initech has a GitHub account and one blocked card.
  • The board has seven cards across the columns, with labels, due dates, links and conversations already in them. Two are waiting on you (“your turn”), one is blocked.
  • The sessions are scripted. Message a card and its Claude answers, makes a fix, then asks permission to push it.
  • Improve with Claude in the new-card dialog writes a scripted brief, step by step, as the real one does.
  • Plan limits in a session’s full window show made-up numbers.

The rest works as in a real desk: open cards, drag them, edit them, make new ones, search, archive.

The demo makes a fresh temporary folder (/tmp/desk-demo-…; desk prints where on start) and points desk at it: the board, the settings, the state, the sockets, the organizations and even HOME are inside it. Every provider is faked, so no ticket, CI, alert or vault is asked over the network, and the card sessions, Improve with Claude and the infra Claude are scripts. Your own board, settings and Claude logins are never read or written.

The window is titled desk demo, so you can tell it from your real desk, and both can run at once.
